A Reno man has been sentenced for his role in a fatal 2022 shooting in Sparks that investigators said occurred during a planned robbery.

Marc Delgado received 180 days in jail followed by five years of probation, according to the Washoe County District Attorney's Office, as reported by KOLO.

He also received a suspended prison sentence of 14 to 36 years. The sentence will remain suspended as long as Delgado follows the terms of his probation. If he violates those terms, he could be required to serve the full prison sentence, 2 News reported.

The case stems from a Dec. 11, 2022, shooting near El Rancho Drive and Capurro Way. Sparks police responded to a report of shots fired just after 9 p.m. and found a man who had been shot. The victim, 21-year-old Joel Undercoffer, was taken to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno, where he died, according to 2 News' reporting.

Investigators determined that three men had planned to rob Undercoffer and that he was killed during the robbery, News 4 reported when the suspects were arrested in October 2023.

Delgado's arrest date was July 26, 2023, according to 2 News. He was 21 at the time. The other two suspects were Juan Anguiano of Reno, arrested Oct. 11, 2023, and Raul Torres-Cruz, arrested Oct. 18, 2023. All three were initially charged with open murder, according to 2 News' account of the arrests.

Anguiano and Torres-Cruz have also been sentenced in connection with Undercoffer's death, according to 2 News and KOLO's September report.
