A Washoe County Sheriff's Office deputy conducting overnight patrols in Sun Valley stopped a vehicle towing a trailer that matched the description of one stolen from a local business owner's property, leading to the recovery of the trailer and the arrest of a 60-year-old man.

The driver, identified as Edward Ercolini, was arrested on felony charges of possession of stolen property and unlawful removal or obliteration of a vehicle identification number (VIN), the Sheriff's Office said in a Nov. 5 post.

The Sheriff's Office said surveillance footage captured the trailer's theft just over a week before deputies recovered it during the traffic stop.

Although the trailer's VIN had been damaged and its identifying decals removed, deputies were able to identify it as the stolen property, according to the agency. The trailer was returned to its owner.

Ercolini, 60, faces the two felony charges, according to reports from KOLO and KTVN 2 News.

The Sheriff's Office did not identify the business or provide a booking date or court information in its public post.
